Sharing knowledge, training young people and instilling in them the basics of our profession are in the Escoffier Spirit that each Disciple undertakes to respect.

History of the Young Jeunes Talents Escoffier competition

The origines

The Auguste Escoffier International Culinary Grand Prix competition, organized by the fraternal cooks of Nice and the Disciples Escoffier International for professionals since 1960, gave the idea in 1970 to our association to create a competition for young people from hotel schools.

In 1971, under the patronage of the City of Nice, the rectorate of the Alpes Maritimes and the Ecole Hôtelière de Nice, 4 candidates competed to create recipes for the culinary guide on the theme of turbot and beef tenderloin.

A few years later, French delegations of Disciples Escoffier launched regional competitions to encourage young people to discover Auguste Escoffier.

Birth of the competition

It was not until 2003 that the President of the Disciples Escoffier Pays France, Michel Receveur, proposed to the masterful council of the international association, to launch an annual cooking competition for young people under 25 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of association.

The Young Talents Escoffier competition was born.

This competition, which will celebrate its 18th edition in 2024 in Paris, has become international and has opened up to the room trades to recall the collaboration between Auguste Escoffier and César Ritz.

The principes of the competition
